10267 Gingerbread House Alt-Build Challenge

10267 Gingerbread House Alt-Build Challenge
Once again a group of InnovaLUG members have teamed up to show the potential even a single set offers for original creations.
This time they're working off of set #10267 Gingerbread House.

So keep reading to see what sort of models they chose to create from this tasty set, and cast your vote as to which alt-build is best!

Kevin Wu:
"Typically, I like to create a finished product that can be viewed from all angles, but I learned to slightly deviate from that mindset this time round. With 1,477 parts at my disposal, I had a harder time thinking of how to maximize the available pieces. I started messing around with the reddish-brown, forming a nice studs down wooden chair. From there, I took advantage of the white plates and tiles to build a desk, and then constructed a wall section of masonry bricks for a more complete scene. The set contains small amounts of many different colors, which made for a colorful collection of books. The result is a cozy interior scene, my first creation at this larger scale. I’m most pleased with the desk drawers, the chair, and the camera."

John Snyder:
"I had a hard time deciding what to build for this challenge - I first tried a fantasy tower/gateway, but quickly realized I wouldn't have the parts to complete the scene I had in mind. After that I started table-scrapping, and realized the set has a lot of parts that work well for a variety of furniture designs. Then it was just a matter of building a few settings for the furniture I came up with - which proved to be more difficult than I first thought it would be. I'm still fairly happy with the end result though, and it was definitely a fun challenge."

Isaiah Durand:
"I'd actually half wanted to build this cart back the first time I saw it, but I certainly couldn't pass up such a good opportunity as the Gingerbread House presented of doing it! The parts were definitely on my side, and although getting the car to stick together wasn't easy, the random candy and baking colors were just about perfect. Ok, so I didn't have enough of the dark magenta as the original, but to be perfectly honest I like my version better anyways, hahaha. And all that white of Sugar Rush castle was not easy to photograph, by the way!"

"I found a lot of neat pieces in the set and so what I first thought to do was an alchemist shop, but all I could do for the floor was white which didn't look so old fashioned. I did my best though, and my creation in the end is kind of like a magic shop, I hope you like it!"

Jaap:
"When I took a first look at the pieces of this gingerbread set, there was nothing that really stood out to me, but there were a lot of brown and white pieces. So I started thinking about brown objects I could make, and I started of with building a tree-house. While I still think it's a fun idea to create this from the pieces in the set, I was not really happy with how it was going and decided to take it in another direction. That meant I was searching for brown things, and when I found a mammoth, I liked to give it a try. It didn't tke me too long to make one and I liked the look of it. So I had a mammoth, but I wanted to use more pieces from the set and decided to make more winter/snow related animals. Next up was the penguin, followed by some kind of deer. To finish it all up I created a pool party on the north-pole, so the crazy eyes of the animals would not look too much out of place... Oh, and to be clear, I was not on drugs while building this."
