One man's life weaves together 120 years of Israelite history - the life of Moses.

Fifteen InnovaLUG builders bring together fifteen builds telling his story. From his amazing rescue from death at an early age, to his bold stand before Pharaoh, to his death on mount Pisgah, Moses' life is replete with interest and instruction. Take a minute to refresh your memory and enjoy the builds!



The first build from the life of Moses is built by Andrew and shows Pharaoh's daughter finding Moses in the wicker basket. You can find this story in Exodus 2:5-10, with the core verse being verses 5 and 6: 'And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river and her maidens walked along by the river's side and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it. And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children.'

The next build, made by Isaac, shows the flight of Moses to Midian, where he helps the daughters of the priest of Midian at the well. This story is written in Exodus 2:15-22, with verse 17 being the main verse: 'And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.'

This build by Mark shows the story of the burning bush, where Moses received a message from God, as described in Exodus 3. Verse 2 tells us of the moment Moses sees the bush on fire, but not getting burnt: 'And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.'

Jaap has built the story as written in Exodus 7:1-13, with Moses and his brother Aaron visiting Pharaoh to tell him to let the Israelites go. To add power to the words, God changes the staff of Aaron into a snake as he throws it on the ground, as you can find in verse 10: 'And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.'

As Pharaoh doesn't want to let the Israelites go, the Lord sends 10 plagues over Egypt, with the first plague being the water turned into blood, as displayed by Gareth in his build. You can find this first plague in Exodus 7:14-24, with the execution of this plague described in verse 20: 'And Moses and Aaron did so, as the Lord commanded and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.'

Noel has built the second plague, where Egypt was covered by a huge amount of frogs, as you can find in Exodus 8:1-15. Verse 6 tells us the execution of this plague: 'And Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt.'

Paul W. built the tenth and last plague, showing the Angel of death killing the firstborn children of the Egyptians, but not the firstborn children of the Israelites as they had blood at the door post. This story is written in Exodus 12:29-30: 'And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon and all the firstborn of cattle. And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians and there was a great cry in Egypt for there was not a house where there was not one dead.'

As the Israelites left Egypt, the Lord Himself was with the Israelites in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. Joseph S. has built the pillar of cloud. You can read about this in Exodus 13:21-22: 'And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light to go by day and night: He took not away the pillar of cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.'

This build by Graham shows the parting of the Red Sea, where the Israelites could go through safely, and the Egyptians drowned as the walls collapsed after the last Israelite has reached the other side. The full story is written in Exodus 14:21-31, but Graham has built the part where Moses stretches his hand over the sea as written in verse 21: 'And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.'

As the Israelites go through the desert, they get very thirsty and there is no water. Moses prays to the Lord, and He tells him to take his staff and smite the rock. John S. has built this scene, and you can find it in Exodus 17:1-7, with the core verse being verse 6: 'Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.'

Exodus 17:8-16 speaks about the battle between the Israelites and the Amalekites, where the Lord makes the battle go in the favor of the Israelites as long as Moses holds his staff up in the air. Geneva has built this scene where Aaron and Hur helps Moses to keep his staff up into the air, as written in verse 12: 'But Moses' hands were heavy and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.'

David has built the scene where Moses has received The Ten Commandments from the Lord Himself, as written in Exodus 32:15-16: 'And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides on the one side and on the other side were they written. And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.'

After Moses returned from the mountain with The Ten Commandments, he finds out that the Israelites have made a golden calf, and that they celebrate it as their God. Joseph Z. has built this golden calf as you can find it in Exodus 32:17-35, with verse 19 about the Israelites celebrating the golden calf: 'And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.'

As the Israelites started to murmur against the Lord, He sends poisonous snakes under them. But he also tells Moses to make a copper snake and put it on a pole. When the Israelites are bitten by the snakes, and they look upon the copper snake, they will get well again. This build by Josiah D. shows this story as you can find it in Numbers 21:4-9, with verse 8 as main verse: 'And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.'

The final build of this collaboration is by Isaiah, and shows the death of Moses, as you can find it in Deuteronomy 34:1-5. Verse 5 writes about the moment Moses actually died: 'So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.'

The book of Deuteronomy concludes with the words:
'And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, In all the signs and the wonders, which the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land, And in all that mighty hand, and in all the great terror which Moses shewed in the sight of all Israel.' (Deuteronomy 34:10-12)
